This set of six symbols represents some of the beautiful and unique trees in the Seattle Freeway Park. They are applied throughout the park experience it inform visitors about some of the natural elements the park.
In the process of designing these symbols, I was inspired by the juxtaposition of natural forms and brutalist architecture in the Seattle Freeway Park. I arrived at this woodcut style because it captures the organic form of the park's plants with a formal tilt — a nod to how the trees interact with the brutalist architecture of the park.
